The Clear Path To Building a Successful Online Business

The Importance Of Personal Development

In this post I will be talking about the importance of personal development. This is for anyone that is thinking about starting their own business. It does not matter which field you are thinking of going into, this is a major subject and without it you may as well just throw in the towel right now!

Please feel free to share any of your recommendations with us all by adding your comments in the box below.

What Do I Mean By Personal Development?

We are not talking physical training here. When we talk about personal development we are talking about changing the habits of a lifetime and reprogramming your mind.

If you look back through you life so far, you would probably be very similar to the next person. We are all brought up in similar houses with parents of similar traditions that were handed down from generation to generation. We all went to similar schools and of course some of us did far better than others but none of that should matter any more. Today we embrace change!

Schools brainwash our children into becoming good little workers!

The one major thing that we all have instilled into our minds from a very young age is that we should get as many qualifications as possible and then go get that job and work our way to the top to then retire after having paid money into our pension schemes for 40 years and live our lives to the end on very little monthly income. 40, 40, 40 scam alert!

Of course, we don’t all follow the same path but the idea is the same for everyone that comes up through the current education system. The government want workers and you will just do as you are told. That’s just the way they want you to be!

So, when we refer to personal development I am talking about changing the common mindset to one that is willing to change. Change is hard, we are creatures of habit and it is not necessarily for everyone. There are many that are quite happy with what they have and will stay in that boring job for the rest of their working life and that is fine.

My guess is that if you are reading this then you are on the road to wanting to change your life.

You have to be willing to change in the first place and when you finally make that decision, you are truly on your way to a better life and your personal development will give you the boost that you need to push though the many barriers that lay ahead of you. Be smart and be ready!

Why Bother With Personal Development?

PD BOOKSI will not sugar coat anything here, it’s a tough road to making a success of your own business and the reason why so many try and fail is because they don’t understand the importance of developing an entrepreneurial mindset.

I want you to have the best possible tools for success, so read on!

I already touched on mindset and it may be a good idea to have a read of my post – Employee Mindset VS Entrepreneur Mindset

It’s a shame so many people ignore this important part of business building. I would bet you anything that if you speak to any successful business owner that has built their business from the ground up they will all tell you about the importance of personal development.

We learn from the mistakes that others have made before us and when you read a book or watch a video about how someone else has failed so many times until they finally found success, it drives you on keeps you moving in the right direction.

Personal development plays a major psychological part in fine-tuning your mind. If you are just starting out and doing your research then you’re on the right track to making the necessary changes. It gets addictive, the more you read, the more you want to learn, especially as you start to experience some of the hurdles along the way.

I cannot stress enough that you need to nail this and treat it with the same level of importance as your business itself.

Some Of My Favourite Quotes

“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go our and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.”

“A good criterion for measuring success in life is the number of people you have made happy.”

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

“It is your attitude, not your aptitude, that determines your altitude.”

“Learn how to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want.”

“The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet.”

Personal development isn’t something that I embrace out of interest, but it comes to me as second nature. I had a rough childhood and the only thing that kept me going was positive thinking. That eventually branched out to other habits that I used in order to cope with different life stages.

Nowadays, I used mostly YouTube to boost my mind and spirits on this subject matter. It’s way more engaging and the concept sticks longer inside.
